Dating yourself isn't just a trend; it's a powerful tool for self-love and personal growth. It's about nurturing your own soul, celebrating your unique qualities, and treating yourself with the same kindness and respect you'd offer a beloved partner. This can be really hard for people that constantly put others before themselves.
Why Date Yourself?
Self-Awareness: It allows you to understand your needs, desires, and boundaries better.
Self-Compassion: You learn to treat yourself with empathy and forgiveness.
Self-Confidence: It boosts your self-esteem and helps you embrace your individuality.
Self-Love: It fosters a deep and lasting love for yourself.
While it’s nice to understand what it is, I want you to imagine what it looks like. If you saw a version of yourself out at an event one night and you were trying to date that person, what would you say? What would you think when you look at the at person? When you look in the mirror, what do you say to yourself? Hopefully it’s something like this song:
“Ow!
Who's that sexy thing I see over there?
That's me, standin' in the mirror
What's that icy thing hanging 'round my neck?
Um, that's gold, show me some respect, oh
I thank God every day (uh, ha)
That I woke up feelin' this way (uh, ha)
And I can't help loving myself
And I don't need nobody else, no, uh
If I was you, I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too
I'd wanna be me too”
Lyrics from “Me Too” by Meghan Trainor
How to Date Yourself

Practice Self-Talk:
Positive Affirmations: Repeat positive statements about yourself daily.
Mindful Self-Talk: Notice negative thoughts and replace them with kind and compassionate ones.
Set Boundaries:
Prioritize Yourself: Learn to say no to things that don't serve you.
Respect Your Time: Dedicate time for self-care and relaxation.
Dress Up for Yourself:
Wear What Makes You Feel Good: Choose an outfit that makes you feel confident and beautiful.
Do Your Hair and Makeup: Pamper yourself with a little self-care.
Go on Adventures:
Explore New Places: Visit a museum, hike a trail, or simply take a walk in nature.
Try New Things: Learn a new skill, take a class, or volunteer your time.
A Date Night Idea: Spa Night at Home
Prep Your Space: Create a serene environment with soft lighting and calming music.
Draw a Warm Bath: Add bath salts or essential oils for a luxurious experience.
Face Mask: Apply a face mask to nourish and rejuvenate your skin.
Hair Treatment: Use a deep conditioning treatment to hydrate your hair.
Meditate: Practice mindfulness to calm your mind and body.
Remember, dating yourself is a journey, not a destination. Be patient with yourself, and enjoy the process of discovering and loving your true self.
